Drake jumped out to a big early lead then held off a furious rally by Indiana State for a 69-66 victory in the Knapp Center.Drake coach Tom Davis says that was a sharp as they’ve played in the early going. He says they got the Sycamores back on their heels, but he says they didn’t back down. The Sycamores had three shots in the frantic final seconds to tie the game but missed them all. Davis says several factors helped the Sycamores crawl back into the game, including rebounding that allowed them to get a lot of second shots. He says that combined with impatience on offense by the Bulldogs led to the close finish.
