Harkin question stumps Jeopardy contestants

February 5, 2004 By admin

Last night’s episode of the TV game show “Jeopardy!” featured a category solely on Iowa. Host Alex Trebek read off the clues. The 16-hundred dollar answer was: Republican Chuck Grassley has represented Iowa in the U.S. Senate since 1981. This Democrat since 1985. Contestants were stumped. No one guessed the correct question — “Who is Tom Harkin?” This morning, the Senator and former presidential candidate joked about his renewed fame.Harkin says “It just goes to show you how soon they forget. (laughs) Now I guess I’ve made it. I’ve been on ‘Jeopardy!’ so once you’ve been on ‘Jeopardy!’ you had it made. What else is there to do in life?”
