The ninth annual local foods conference wraps up today (Saturday) in Grinnell. Spokesman Gary Guthrie says the focus of the conference hasn’t changed since its inception. He says the purpose is to help people and farmers who’re concerned about their food system and want to encourage people to grow and eat more locally grown food. Guthrie says there are a couple of key topics. He says its about food safety and food security and helping Iowans eat more locally grown food. Guthrie says more people are taking notice of the issue. He says he thinks it’s because of a lot of groundwork taken nine or ten years ago by the I-S-U Leopold Center. The events today are at the Grinnell High School.
