New A-L-S group holds fundraiser

A fundraiser is planned for tonight in central Iowa for one of the state’s newest charities — the A-L-S Association’s Iowa Chapter, which is based in Ankeny. Roger Gould is spokesman for the new chapter, which is holding a dinner and auction as part of what’s called “A Night of Hope.” The group formed in October of 2003 and is the 39th chapter in the U.S. A-L-S stands for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Gould says the auction will start around 5:30 P.M., the dinner’s at 7 o’clock and the entertainment should start around 8.
