High tech gifts may win out over flowers

February 13, 2004 By admin

Forget the flowers and chuck the chocolates — find your lover an M-P-3 player instead. Some Iowa shoppers are abandoning the common gifts and are instead getting their sweethearts high-tech gadgets for Valentine’s Day. Molly Wulff, spokeswoman for an electronics chain with several stores in Iowa, says she’s seeing a trend she likes.Wulff says “We’re really noticing that people are looking for nontraditional gifts to give their valentines. They’re doing away with the chocolates and the flowers, necessarily, and looking for something a bit more creative and spending some money on consumer electronics and entertainment.” She says the new trend in Valentine’s Day shopping has been expanding for two or three years, adding, this year D-V-Ds and D-V-D players are moving well.
