Iowa women win at Wisconsin in overtime

February 13, 2004 By admin

The Iowa Hawkeye women stole one in Madison last night. The Hawkeyes erased a six point deficit in the final 13-seconds to force overtime, then pulled away in the extra session for an 87-82 victory over Wisconsin.Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says she’s proud of the effort as she says many teams would’ve folded up and gone home. Trailing by three, Lillis stole a Badger inbound pass and found Faulkner in the corner who drained a three pointer with seven seconds remaining to tie the game. Lindsey Richards made two three pointers in the overtime as Iowa improves to 7-4 in conference play. Bluder says when you have scored all night and you step up and make two three’s, those are backbreaker shots. Iowa had beaten Wisconsin by 20 in their first meeting in Iowa City but the Badgers dominated for much of Thursday night’s game. Bluder was expecting to face a much better Wisconsin team this time around, and she says they were better. She says her team was lackluster early, but turned it up in the last six minutes of regulation and into overtime.Iowa visits Indiana on Sunday
