Swisher nears UNI scoring mark

February 13, 2004 By admin

It could be a record setting performance for a member of the University of Northern Iowa women’s basketball team tomorrow. Heading into their game at Bradley, senior Amy Swisher is poised to become UNI’s all-time leading scorer. The Cedar Falls native needs only 14-points to surpass the 1,701-points scored by Diane Roberts who played for the Panthers between 1985-1988. UNI coach Tony DiCecco feels that breaking the scoring record is a result of all the hard work that Swisher has put into her game. He says it’s a great honor for her and he says a lot of their success is due to Swisher. DiCecco thought that Swisher would make an impact when she came to play at UNI. He says they knew she would be a great player because of the type of person Swisher is.
