Drake hopes upset win carries over tonight

February 17, 2004 By admin

The Drake men come off an upset victory over Creighton with a visit to Southwest Missouri State tonight. Bulldog coach Tom Davis says injuries will leave his team short handed, as Joshua Robinson and Quantel Murphy are both out. He says Josh Powell is questionable, and will be a game time decision. Davis says that changes the outlook, as they’re three guys who’ve started a lot of games. That will put more pressure on point guard Lonnie Randolph who was named the Missouri Valley player of the week. Davis says it’s good to see Randolph recognized, after he pulled down 12 rebounds the other night. Southwest Missouri coach Barry Hinson says like the Bulldogs, the Bears are coming off an emotional game. He says it was an emotional gut-wrenching loss for them, but a big win for Drake and he says whoever responds the best will win. Drake is 6-8 in the Valley.
