Newton-based appliance giant Maytag has announced a partnership with a Korean electronics manufacturer. Maytag Corporation has signed an agreement with Samsung Electronics Limited that would have Samsung manufacture high-efficiency, front- load laundry products for Maytag. Maytag C-E-O Ralph Hake says the agreement is designed to expand Maytag’s existing laundry product lines and strengthen its market position, both in the United States and internationally. He says Maytag plans to continue manufacturing laundry products in Newton and other facilities in the U.S. Hake says the agreement will combine the best of Maytag’s design, testing, consumer research, marketing and sales expertise with Samsung’s laundry and electronics knowledge and world-class manufacturing capability. Hake says the laundry models will be marketed under the Maytag brand and be sold in the regular Maytag outlets beginning later this year.
