Illinois has been on a roll as of late and unfortunately for the Iowa Hawkeyes they were in the way last night. The Illini jumped out to an 18-8 lead and never looked back in 78-59 victory in Iowa City which severely damaged the Hawkeyes hopes of getting into the NCAA Tournament. Iowa coach Steve Alford says Illinois is playing at a very high level and are an outstanding basketball team. Alford says the disappointing thing is that once his team got down, their body language got really poor, he says that hasn’t been the characteristic of the team. The Hawks suffered through a cold shooting night but were outplayed in nearly every category. Alford says when you shoot 39 percent and give up 58 percent and don’t rebound very well, you can’t win. Alford says the Hawks need to bounce back quickly as they host Minnesota Saturday in their home finale. The Hawks are 14-10.
