Fight leads to deadly stabbing in Fairfield

March 2, 2004 By admin

Authorities in southeast Iowa say a cafeteria fight between two students at a private college escalated to a deadly knifing. Maharishi University of Management bills itself as one of the safest college campuses in the world, but a homicide investigation is now underway there. At 7 last night, Fairfield officers were called to the M-U-M dining hall where they found 19-year-old student Levi Butler suffering from stab wounds to the chest. He was taken to Jefferson County Hospital where he died. Police charged 24-year-old M-U-M student Shuvendr Sem at the scene on murder charges. He’s held in the Jefferson County Jail.
