Senate to debate Grassley’s business bill

March 2, 2004 By admin

A federal program that was crafted by an Iowan to keep and create manufacturing jobs in the U.S. is expected to come up for debate later today. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says he’s calling his legislation the JOBS bill, for Jump-starting Our Business Strength.Grassley says the bill would reduce the tax rate on U.S.-based manufacturing by three-percent, saying, “If you make a product here, we’re gonna’ cut your taxes here.” Grassley, a Republican, says the bill would cut taxes for U.S. factories, sole proprietors, partnerships, farmers and small business owners who create jobs.Grassley says the bill would reform and simplify international taxes for U.S. companies operating overseas. He says it’s very important that the legislation is debated and passed right away as “Millions of manufacturing jobs have been lost. Factory workers need new opportunities.”
