Guitar guru offering free advice in 3 Iowa towns

March 8, 2004 By admin

A professional guitarist who’s played with everyone from Frank Sinatra to Ace Frehley of Kiss is offering free clinics to Iowa guitarists this week. Chuck Yamek says the clinics are designed to help musicians get the sounds they want out of their guitars. He says it’ll help long-time guitar players and beginners, whether they’re kids or adults. Yamek will share his experience from stages and studios stretching from L.A. to Nashville. Yamek has worked on all sorts of T-V and movie soundtracks, playing smooth jazz, rock, blues, heavy metal, rhythm and blues and many cross-overs. He’s played with the L-A Orchestra, on the Tonight Show and in studio and onstage with such diverse artists as Natalie Cole, Donna Summer, Tiffany and Richard Elliot. He recently released a smooth jazz album. Yamek’s clinics are scheduled for Tuesday night at Lidgett Music in Council Bluffs, Wednesday at Creative Entertainment in Sioux City and Thursday at Last Chance Guitars in West Des Moines. Call ahead to reserve a free space.
