The F-A-A is investigating the crash of an airplane in Dubuque that injured three central Wisconsin men. The crash happened about 10 p.m. when the wings iced up on the single engine plane as it was on its way from Des Moines to Madison, Wisconsin. The pilot, 34-year-old Paul Vanderbloeman of Deforest, Wisconsin, tried to land at the Dubuque airport, but the plane crashed in a grassy area near the runway. Vanderbloeman and his two passengers — 40-year-old William Ranguet and 47-year old Paul Gilbert, both of Waunakee, Wisconsin — all walked away from the crash. They were treated and released at a Dubuque hospital. The plane suffered extensive damage.
