For the eighth time in the last nine years either Ankeny or Dowling Catholic will win the class 4A championship. For top rated Ankeny this was expected. The Hawkettes have won two consecutive titles and advanced to the championship with a victory over Des Moines Hoover. Ankeny coach Scott DeJong says he told his team the pressure is off now that they’re back in the finals. Sixth rated Dowling advanced with a 43-42 win over second ranked Des Moines Lincoln. Northeast Iowa Conference rivals Waukon and Charles City collide for the 3A crown. Top ranked Waukon is 27-0 after a thrilling come from behind win over Atlantic in the semifinals.Sixth ranked Charles City lost both regular season matchups with the Indians but Comets coach Adam DeJoode says his team is not satisfied with just getting to the title game, they want to win.
