Midwest poison control centers team up

March 16, 2004 By admin

A dozen poison control centers in the Midwest are joining forces. The 12 poison control centers, including Iowa’s, say they’ve started collaborating on public education and outreach to decrease the poison related injuries and deaths in the region. This year the group will spend in data analysis, identifying at risk populations and establishing benchmarks for next year’s poison reduction campaigns. Last year, the 12 Midwest poison centers received nearly a half-million calls, and more than a third of those involved children under the age of six.
