Osage man rescued from grain bin

An Osage man is in a Rochester Minnesota hospital after being trapped inside a grain bin for four hours at the local elevator. Jim Rolland was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester after being freed from a grain bin at the Osage Farmers Co-op Elevator at around 5:35 last night. Fire Captain Gene Evans says Rolland was conscious and alert when he was rescued out of the bin. Rolland and a co-worker were filling rail cars at about 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon when Rolland entered the bin to investigate a problem. Rolland did not come out of the bin and his co-worker looked in and saw him buried in the grain. About fifty people from surrounding fire departments and area residents worked at the scene to keep Rolland from suffocating.
