Iowa’s democrat governor took a few swings for presumptive democratic presidential candidate John Kerry’s campaign today, criticizing President Bush for his handling of the economy.Governor Tom Vilsack says governors across the country are growing increasingly concerned about the federal budget deficit. He says Bush should stop “super-sizing” the deficit. Vilsack says “the President is essentially saying to everyone ‘You all can have it your way’ — guns, butter and reckless tax cuts.” Vilsack made his comments during a telephone call with reporters that was arranged by the Kerry campaign. Vilsack, the current chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, has been mentioned as one of the politicians Kerry may consider as a running mate.
