President Bush will hold a prime-time news conference at 7:30 tonight to address two critical issues — the continued violence in Iraq and his administration’s response to a pre-Nine-Eleven memo that warned of al-Qaida threats. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, who’s back in Iowa for Easter break, says most Iowans are behind the President and his efforts. Grassley says “People are supportive of our being in Iraq, supportive of sending more troops, but I think one thing that people would really like to hear and I would like to hear would be some way in which we can get more countries involved in our efforts in Iraq.” Grassley thinks President Bush could use his power to persuade more nations to join the international force in Iraq, lending stability to efforts to bring freedom to that country. He says there are lot of countries since Spain was bomb that see terrorism as a threat.Without help from more nations, Grassley says Iraq may become a major battleground for all sorts of extremists who want to wage war on the Western way of life. He says the focus must be kept on the war on terrorism, not on a war between cultures.
