A weekend concert of blues music in central Iowa will be heard in Iraq. The show’s being called “Blues for Baghdad.” The seven Iowa bands are playing Sunday afternoon and evening at the bar Blues on Grand in Des Moines. The concert will be recorded, burned onto C-D, and sent to Iowans serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Concert organizer Bryan Church, an insurance underwriter from Des Moines, explains his motives.Church’s brother, Major Tom Church, is an M.P. now serving in the Army Reserves in Iraq. He says the goal is show support for the troops and “to try and bring them a little peace and comfort from back home through some music.” Cover is five-dollars or for 50-bucks, you can cover the cost of sending ten C-Ds to the troops.
