Gallery heading to New York for NFL Draft

April 21, 2004 By admin

Iowa tackle Robert Gallery will be one of a handful of players in attendance when the NFL draft begins Saturday morning in New York City. The Outland Trophy winner is one of the top players available and could be the top pick depending on what the San Diego Chargers do with the first pick. Gallery says he is enjoying the attention he is getting heading into the draft. He says it’s been great as he’s been on the cover of a couple of publications. He says walking through an airport and seeing your picture on the cover of a magazine is something you dream about. Although, he says he could do without all the attention. Gallery says with all the attention he is getting recognized across the country. He says he was flying and the guy next to him on the plane was reading a magazine with his picture on it. Gallery says the guy didn’t realize it was him until the ride was over. Only one Iowa player has been the top pick and that was quarterback Randy Duncan. He was taken by the Green Bay Packers after the 1959 season.
