Waterloo moves into USHL finals

For the first time in franchise history the Waterloo Black Hawks will be playing in the U-S-H-L Clark Cup Finals. The Hawks completed a three-game sweep over Danville in the Eastern Division Finals with a convincing 9-1 victory at Young Arena last night. Waterloo broke open a 1-1 tie after the first period with four-goals in the second period. Waterloo coach P.K. O’Handley says he is happy for everyone associated with the club. It is their first trip to the finals in 25-years and O’Handley says he was happy they were able to clinch the series at home.Waterloo captain Joe Pavelski is excited to be part of the first Black Hawks team to play in the finals. He says it’s a great hockey town and it’s amazing how well the fans are backing them.Waterloo will play either Tri-City or Sioux City in the U-S-H-L Finals. Tri-City leads the Western Division Finals two-games to none with game three tonight in Sioux City.
