Body discovered in a package in Des Moines

April 26, 2004 By admin

Des Moines police are saying little about the discovery of a body on the capitol city’s east side. A bowling alley employee was chasing away a panhandler about 8 o’clock last night, when that worker discovered what’s described as a suspicious package between the bowling alley and the Mexican restaurant next door and called police. After three hours of careful work, the package was dismantled and the body was found inside, but police won’t say in what it was wrapped. Investigators also aren’t saying anything about the person’s age, sex or race. An autopsy’s planned. Police say the body may’ve been there as long as 48 hours and they’re looking for anyone who saw something suspicious.
