UNI ends Spring without clear number two QB

April 26, 2004 By admin

UNI football coach Mark Farley has not settled on a backup quarterback after the Panthers closed out spring drills Saturday. Senior starter Tom Petrie sat out Saturday’s spring game to allow Eric Sanders, Grant Zielinski and Chris Parsons to get the majority of action. He says the competition will go deep into the fall two-a-day camp. Farley says the position is not settled, as he says Parsons made a big jump, and Sanders has made steady progression. He says the player that improves during the summer will have the biggest edge. The purple squad defeated the white team 16-7 and Farley says all three quarterbacks showed flashes of being good.
