A Clear Lake man is sentenced to 15 years in prison after being found guilty earlier this month of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment in the 2001 death of his ex-girlfriend’s eight-month-old boy. 25-year-old Christopher Holmes listened to family members of Jevon Littleton during Tuesday’s sentencing hearing in Cerro Gordo County District Court. Jevon’s mother Jessica Putney says Holmes became more and more abusive towards her after the death of Jevon. Jessica’s sister/Jevon’s aunt JoDell Heard says she’s angry that Holmes has not shown any remorse in having a hand in Jevon’s death. She says it’s been a difficult time for many reasons. She says it’s sickening to lose a child to “a sickening jerk.” Jessica’s father/Jevon’s grandfather, Joe Putney, says Holmes robbed his family the day of Jevon’s death. Besides the 15 years in prison, Judge Paul Riffel ordered Holmes to pay the Littleton family 150-thousand dollars as well as pay restitution to the Victims’ Assistance Compensation Fund and costs related to the trial. Holmes stated he will appeal the case to the Iowa Supreme Court.
