A one-year-old Waterloo child has died after climbing into a bathtub full of hot water. The child, Daishalynn McDowell, the daughter of Angie Lynn of Waterloo, was taken to a Waterloo Hospital, then transferred to Iowa City where she died Wednesday morning. Waterloo police say the girl’s eight-year-old brother was filling up the bathtub and left the tub for a few moments, and the girl crawled in. The girl’s mother was in another area of the house at the time. An autopsy’s been scheduled, but police do not suspect foul play.
