Dixie Shanahan found guilty of second-degree murder

There’s a verdict in the trial of the western Iowa woman accused in the shotgun slaying of her husband. After about seven-and-a-half hours of deliberation, the jury found Dixie Shanahan guilty of second-degree murder. The Defiance woman was accused of killing her abusive husband and leaving his body on their bed for more than a year and sealing off the room. Shanahan was taken into custody and her bond was revoked. Sentencing is tentatively scheduled for May 10th.
