Akron man charged in fatal hit-and-run accident

May 4, 2004 By admin

Western Iowa authorities have arrested a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident in Plymouth County. The accident Sunday evening claimed the life of 39-year-old Joan Wilson of rural Akron. Plymouth County officials have charged 36-year-old Richard Allen Heien of rural Le Mars with homicide by vehicle. Wilson was jogging on a Plymouth County gravel road when she was struck by a vehicle that did not stop. The sheriff’s department issued a statement Monday afternoon saying the vehicle involved had been found, but did not say what type of vehicle. Heien made and initial court appearance and was held on a 32-thousand-500 dollar cash bond.
