Cathy Fredrick always thought there was a chance she would return to Iowa. After 15-years as the head volleyball coach at Washington State Fredrick will try to turn the program around at the University of Iowa.She says she was there 19 years ago and has followed the program and says she knew she one day wanted to go back.The Waverly native earned her masters degree at Iowa and also served as an assistant coach. She says her roots kept calling her back to Iowa and says it’s exciting to be going home.She takes over a Hawkeye program that has made it to the NCAA Tournament just twice in the last 20-years. She leaves a Washington State program that she led to the NCAA Tournament ten times in 15 years.
