Iowans headed to the florist for a Mother’s Day bouquet may have a long wait ahead of them. Today is typically the busiest day of the year for the florist industry. Dan Beasley, who runs a flower shop in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area, says this is among the rare occasions when they deliver on Sunday.Beasley says people are ordering and picking up their spring flowers today as well, adding to the rush. Many florists hire extra workers to handle the load, and Beasley’s among them. He added on about 50 “holiday drivers” who are helping deliver some six-thousand flowery parcels. Among the most popular flowers ordered through florists on this Friday before Mothers Day are roses, tulips and carnations.
