Hail hits Charles City

Damage is still being assessed after a severe hailstorm hit Charles City over the weekend. The hail hit Charles City between 7:45 and 8:00 o’clock Saturday night according to the National Weather Service in LaCrosse. Three-inch or teacup sized hail was reported by a weather spotter at 7:45. There were other hail reports by law enforcement and the public of one-and-three-quarter inch or golf ball sized hail at 7:46…two-and-three quarter inch or baseball sized hail at 7:54…and two-and-a-half inch or tennis ball sized hail at 7:55. A spokeswoman for Winnebago Industries says the motor home manufacturer did have damage to both finished motor homes and bare chassis at the Charles City Manufacturing facility, but company officials are still assessing the damage.
