More lawsuits filed against Sioux City priest

May 18, 2004 By admin

Five more people have filed lawsuits against Reverend George McFadden a Catholic priest in Sioux City. Two women and three men field lawsuits Monday in Woodbury County District Court. All five were students at Saint Francis Assisi grade school in Sioux City, where McFadden was first assigned in 1961. The lawsuits allege McFadden had sexual contact with the students who were all under the age of 14. The suit claims they experienced emotional suffering, anguish and disruption of their employment and relationships. The attorney for the five, R. Scott Rinehart, says he’s talked to 30 people who claim abuse and he vows to keep filing lawsuits until the Sioux City Diocese responds. Fourteen lawsuits have been filed thus far.
