An Iowa city man’s suing over his son’s death in a drunk-driving crash. Brian Barry had graduated in 2003 from West High school in Iowa City along with James Arthur and the two were roommates their freshman year at the University of Iowa. But one night last September the two were in a car Arthur was driving, and when he missed a curve and hit a tree, Barry was killed. James Arthur goes to court in July on criminal charges of vehicular homicide. His roommate’s father, William Barry, is suing Arthur, whose blood-alcohol the night of the crash was tested at point-one-six-three percent, double Iowa’s limit for legal intoxication. The father’s also suing an Iowa City Inn where the two were reportedly at a wedding reception that night. Barry says the inn served drinks to the young driver, who was 18 at the time.
