Two eastern Iowa communities are teaming up to bring in more tourism dollars. The Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Dubuque Convention and Visitors Bureau have formed a partnership to market attractions in both areas. Joe Taylor is president of the Quad Cities’ group and says it’s a smart move to join forces.Taylor says both communities are tied to the Mississippi River with hundreds of millions of dollars invested in riverfront developments. He says it’s a more efficient use of resources to market Dubuque and the Davenport area jointly. Gasoline prices statewide now average $1.99 a gallon, a new record high. Taylor says that’s another big factor in the alliance as it makes sense to visit a place that’s closer to home. Taylor says it just makes good sense to combine efforts.
