Shotput champ eyes discus title

May 30, 2004 By admin

Newton’s Chase Madison will be chasing a state title and an elusive mark later today at the boy’s state track meet. Madison will try to win the Class 4A discus title and better the all-time Iowa record. Madison says 207.8 feet has been “haunting him forever” because that’s a record that dates back to 1978. Madison says he’s going to focus on technique and getting power in his throw. Madison won the 4A shot put on Friday with a toss of 63-feet. Madison says he knew he could win if he stayed focus and got all the mechanics right.
