The Federal Emergency Management Agency is trimming back the hours its hotline will be available to Iowans who had damage to their homes and businesses in the recent storms and flooding. Lew Wood is a FEMA spokesman and he encourages people to apply for the federal aid that’s available. The 800-621-FEMA hotline will be available now from 8 AM until 6 P.M. Monday through Saturday. It’ll be closed Sunday — that’s the change. The line had been open those hours seven days a week. In the past few weeks, Wood says nearly two-thousand Iowans have registered on the hotline for federal assistance.
