Governor Vilsack says the state will not shut down its offices Friday for the national funeral of President Ronald Reagan. He says the decision was based in part on what other states are doing. He says they did a survey of states, and of the 42 they contacted, 31 are remaining open and 10 or 11 are closing, and Hawaii already had a holiday. Vilsack says state employees will recognize the occasion. He says they will have a moment of silence at the time the service so employees can reflect or say a prayer. Vilsack, a democrat, will attend the funeral in Washington, D.C. along with the governors from the other states.
