This afternoon, some five-thousand people are passing by former President Reagan’s casket every hour in the Capitol building Rotunda. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley attended yesterday’s service for the 40th president. Grassley says Reagan is beloved by many, but talk about memorializing him on the ten-dollar bill or Mount Rushmore need to stop — for now — and be brought up later.Grassley says decisions like that should not be hastily made during the funeral process, but should be put on hold for six months to a year. Grassley says it may be wise to not repeat what happened after the death of John F-Kennedy.After Kennedy was assassinated, the name of everything from streets to schools to the space center was renamed after him. He says the Reagan honors need to be “thoughtfully” considered next year. Grassley attended last night’s ceremonies in the Capitol Rotunda, but will not be at tomorrow’s funeral at the National Cathedral. Grassley makes his way back to Iowa today to take part in the state G-O-P convention.
