Russians tour and learn about meat processing

June 12, 2004 By admin

A group of Russians is touring Iowa learning about meat processing. The Denison Rotary club is one of the groups hosting the visit beginning Monday (June 14). Denison Rotary President Ed Gast says the group hopes to learn how to improve the industry in their own country. He says they’re all working in the industry in their own country and with the change in their economy, they’re trying to learn better methods. Gast says another city got them involved in the visit. He says the rotary club in Fort Dodge has had delegations from two other businesses and encouraged them to get involved. He says they’re partnering with clubs in Storm Lake and Le Mars and each will host the group for just under one week. Gast says the visitors will get to know individual members of the Denison group. He says they’ll be staying with eight members of the group who’ll house one or two members of the group. He says local businesses have also agreed to give a local tour. Gast says they’ve been planning the visit for months.
