Controversial school bus driver loses job in Carroll

June 22, 2004 By admin

A controversial western Iowa school bus driver has lost her job but has reportedly already applied for a bus driving job elsewhere. The Carroll school board voted unanimously Monday to accept the resignation of a bus driver accused of allowing children to drive. Court documents showed Carroll school bus driver Melanie Rivers had many moving violations on her driving record. She had been ticketed more than 15 times in the past ten years and had been accused of driving while suspended. Some parents who addressed the board before the vote say a resignation is not enough. They worry she will be able to apply for a bus driving job at another school district.
