A track meet at UNI this weekend will give competitors a chance to qualify for next month’s U.S. Olympic trials in Sacramento. Others will use the meet as a tuneup, including for UNI standout Joey Woody. The Iowa City native has already qualified for the trials and is coming off a fourth place finish in the 400-hurdles at the Prefontaine Classic Eugene, Oregon over the weekend. Woody finished second in the World Championships last season and feels everything is falling into place for him. He says he’s been very consistent and pretty injury free for most of his career and feels he’s peaking at the right time.Woody narrowly missed a spot on the 2000 Olympic team but feels that experience has made him better.The Last Chance Olympic Qualifying meet will begin on Friday with the Decathlon and then the running events will take place Saturday night.
