Two northeast Iowa residents are facing a variety of charges after taking an Oelwein police officer on a wild ride. An unidentified police officer had pulled over a car driven by 25-year-old Che Hudson of Fayette for driving with a suspended license on a previous O-W-I charge. Hudson pulled the officer through the car window and took off — with the policeman’s legs dangling in the air. A woman passenger in the car, 22-year-old Cassidy Witt of Fayette, allegedly tried to take the officer’s gun. Hudson then tried to run the officer into an oncoming semi. They were eventually stopped at a roadblock and arrested. The officer was treated for minor injuries. A child in the car was not hurt. Hudson is charged with assault on a peace officer, reckless driving, child endangerment, interference with official acts, driving while revoked, and not having insurance. Witt is charged with attempting to disarm a peace officer. Both will face a magistrate today.
