Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry will make a jaunt through the Midwest over the July 4th holiday weekend. Governor Tom Vilsack was tapped by the Kerry campaign to make the announcement.Vilsack says Kerry will travel by bus through Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Kerry will make stops in eastern Iowa. Vilsack will be along for the trip, but the governor continues to be mum about his chances of becoming Kerry’s runningmate. Vilsack says the Kerry campaign does not want a lot of public discussion about the vice presidential selection process because Kerry was on Al Gore’s “short list” of potential runningmates in 2000 and Kerry wasn’t happy with the way that process was handled. Vilsack made his comments today at Iowa Public Television.
