If you’re foolish enough to want to make methamphetamine, you probably should consider doing it in something other than a tent. At a campground. The Scott County Sheriff’s office got a “Crimestopper” tip on Wednesday and found meth making materials inside and outside a tent at the West Lake Park campground. One man was arrested after a foot chase, but his name wasn’t released. Sheriff’s Captain Mike Brown encourages folks to keep an eye out for meth labs. There will likely be a strong smell of ether, ammonia or anhydrous ammonia. Brown says a home with lots of people coming and going at all hours is another sign of a possible meth lab. He says Iowans who have information about a meth lab should call it in. Brown says meth labs also cost taxpayers because specially trained officers have to spend lots of time to clean them up.
