There are new developments in the case of a Defiance woman who was convicted in April of murdering her abusive husband and hiding the body in her home for more than a year. Dixie Shanahan is requesting that her new husband, Jeff Duty, be given permanent custody of her three children while she serves her prison term. After her second-degree murder conviction, Shanahan’s sister in Texas was granted custody of the kids. During a Wednesday hearing, Duty asked for permission to visit the children while the Supreme Court is deciding on the issue. Duty and Shanahan were married April 9th, about a week before she went on trial.
