Class 2A baseball enters district finals

July 20, 2004 By admin

Class 2A high school baseball tournament action continues tonight with district finals. There is one rated matchup as seventh-ranked Cascade plays number six Mount Vernon. Cascade coach Jerry Roling knows his team faces a challenge against a good team that won 19 games in a row in one stretch.Cascade swept a regular season doubleheader with the Mustangs but Roling doesn’t put too much stock in the outcome. He says he threw some kids who hadn’t thrown much and they did too as it was toward the end of the week, and neither team had much pitching left. And Roling expects a much lower scoring game, tonight, and that means mistakes will be magnified. He says you have to take advantage of opportunities, get some key hits and play good defense.
