I-35 looks to take it’s first trip on the road to state

July 21, 2004 By admin

The Interstate-35 baseball team is a victory away from a first-ever trip to the state tournament. the number-two Roadrunners scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to edge Panorama 2-1 last night in a class 2A district final. The senior laden team is now 25-2 on the season. I-35 coach Jeff Douglas says they haven’t been this far since the 1970s. He says winning close games is what it takes to make a run in the tournament. He says he hopes the close win gives the kids a sense of confidence. The Roadrunners final hurdle will be a big one. They play eighth-ranked North Polk in a sub-state final on Friday night. He says they’re happy to be there and get a shot to go to state and now “let the cookie crumble were it may.”
