Democratic National Committee chairman won’t stick around for next election

Democratic National Committee chairman Terry McAuliffe says he “protected” the first-in-the-nation status of Iowa’s Caucuses for 2004, but he won’t be providing cover much longer.McAuliffe won’t be in the same position for the next presidential campaign of 2008. After the election, he’ll appoint a commission to consider changes in the primary and election calendar for the next go-round. This part election cycle, though, did feature some changes in the election schedule that McAuliffe engineered. McAuliffe spoke to Iowa Delegates on Monday morning.
