August 5, 2004 By admin

One woman was killed and three people were hurt when a car and a semi-truck collided yesterday afternoon in southwest Iowa’s Adams County. The woman who died is identified as 53-year-old Nancy Lewis of Alexis, Illinois. She was driving the car which state troopers say hit the truck which had gone out of control while making a turn and crossed the center line. Passengers in Lewis’ car were 51-year-old Celia Godsel of Galesburg, Illinois, and 51-year-old Deborah Masten of Knoxville, Illinois. Godsel was critically hurt. Masten was seriously injured. The truck was driven by 49-year-old Mark Folkerts of Davenport, Nebraska, who was treated and released. Charges are still pending.
