Former Grinnell-Newburg wrestler, baseball player killed in accident

August 9, 2004 By admin

A Kellogg man was killed in a single vehicle accident over the weekend. According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s office, a vehicle driven by Nathan Figland left the roadway of a Jasper County road and plunged into Rock Creek Lake early Sunday morning. Figland apparently missed a curve in the road. The vehicle was discovered by a fisherman who spotted the car’s bumper in the water and notified authorities at about 7:30. Figland graduated from Grinnell-Newburg High School in 2003 where he played baseball and wrestled. He was 20 years old. The investigation into the cause of the wreck is ongoing.
